Siobhan Dickerson

Director of Specialism - Careers and Higher Education Advisor

Mrs. Dickerson started her teaching career in 2004 in a Catholic secondary school in the North of England. After graduating from the University of Oxford in 2003 with a degree in English Language and Literature, she first worked for a global bank in their private wealth management team.

Quickly realising she missed her studies and the ability to discuss literature with others, she applied for a position at a local school. Her first role here was as a cover supervisor and learning support assistant working with children with additional needs and children of determination. Realizing this was her true vocation, she completed her teacher training whilst working at this school and graduated from the programme within 9 months. After one more year at her first school, she moved to an Independent girls’ school and then to work as a Lead Teacher consulting on improvements in English, overseeing several schools in the area. She was made Assistant Head Teacher in 2012 and achieved her NPQH in 2018.

She moved to Dubai with her husband in 2017, three days after getting married, to take up the post of Head of English, leading the school through their first set of GCSE and A Level results.

In 2019 she was awarded the additional appointment of being the school’s Careers and Higher Education Advisor and subsequently promoted to Director of Specialism. Mrs. Dickerson works closely with staff, parents and the local and global communities to ensure students at FPS have the information and opportunities they need to aim high and achieve their future goals. Her best moment in teaching is seeing a student’s face when you unlock a word or concept that has been lost to them, and seeing their pride when using this in their own work.
