Matt Lecuyer, CEO and Principal at GEMS Winchester School, Dubai! The learning journey to get to this point has been a varied and exciting one!

After earning an honours degree in Applied Biological Sciences at Bristol; I felt that something was missing. Reflecting on where I wanted to be, I knew that my heart was in
education. I wanted to make a difference to young people’s lives and inspire them like so many people on my learning journey have inspired me.

I gained my Teaching degree at The University of Southampton and embarked on my adventure as a teacher. I have taught in inner city schools, rural village schools and
facilitated learning to students from all over the world including the UK, Dubai and the Middle East, Uganda, Nepal, Europe and beyond. I have had the privilege of working with
a range of Outstanding practitioners and have been able to apply the skills I have acquired to support learning in children and adults alike.

At the heart of everything I believe in, is children’s learning, their understanding and giving them opportunities to apply learnt skills to their everyday lives. As a Principal, I
have the honour of being able to lead learning to make a difference in the lives of the young people in our care.

A colleague I respect enormously once told me that;
“The world is full of good, kind inspirational people; however, if you can’t find one, be one.”

I strive to be one of those people.
