Abigail Rey
Speech and Language Therapist
Hello, My name is Abigail. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Speech and Language Therapist at GEMS First Point School (FPS). I am from Manchester, UK (although I grew up in Liverpool) and have lived in the UAE for the past 2 years. I have worked as a speech and language therapist since 2015, after completing my MSc in Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Essex. I also hold a BA in Childhood Studies from Nottingham Trent University. Prior to life as I speech and language therapist I worked in education, specifically alternative provision settings for children with Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. I am passionate about communication in all its various forms and love the broad scope of speech and language therapy in promoting interaction and independence.
Over the years, I've dedicated my career to assisting individuals with speech language and communication needs to develop their skills through evidence-based practice and a strength-based therapeutic approach. Having worked across various educational, clinical and community-based settings, I bring with me in-depth experience and a commitment to fostering inclusive environments and interactions for all. I look forward to getting to know the individual students and their families at GEMS FPS and working closely with them to implement personalised programs to support our children along their academic journey and beyond.
Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] for any concerns or questions regarding your child’s speech and language development. My door is always open to parents and teachers seeking advice or support. I look forward to working with you to enhance our student’s potential and participation.
