Baldish Nijjar

Assistant Principal Specialism and Head of Centre of Excellence - Digital Industries

Baldish is very well qualified through a BSc Degree in Computer Studies and a Masters Degree (MSc) in Management, both from Teeside University in the UK.   He qualified as a teacher through completing his PGCE and QTS in 2011 in Durham, UK.  Baldish has a history of achieving outstanding results in a variety of GCSE and A-Level specifications in the UK and Dubai. He has held leadership positions such as Department Head with line management responsibilities across a number of different subjects and developed other staff members to an outstanding level. One of the leadership roles Baldish held in the UK was Associate Education Officer with Durham Local Education Authority, supporting schools and departments with tailored training sessions and support plans and Introducing innovative solutions and initiatives to broaden opportunities for staff and students.

Baldish moved to Dubai in 2015, where he joined Jumeirah College, he achieved consistently outstanding results for his students and set new records for achievement at the school. He was also the Innovation Leader at Jumeirah College, integrating use of technology to enhance teaching and learning and introducing student leadership accreditation where all students had the opportunity to achieve at their best.  Baldish was on the Extended Leadership Team at Jumeirah College and had a positive whole school impact. Baldish is also the GEMS TELLAL Digital Learning Network Leader, supporting schools and departments within the GEMS network of schools and providing opportunities for others to showcase best practice. Baldish was appointed as GEMS FirstPoint School’s Assistant Principal Specialism and Head of Centre of Excellence Digital Industries in March 2018. His role sees him establishing industry links, partnerships and initiatives which are the first in the region and supported by the KHDA Rahhal programme and Dubai 10X vision.

Away from education, Baldish is interested in watching and analysing a variety of sports from football to boxing and mixed martial arts. He is a keen football supporter and follows Liverpool FC.  Baldish’s wife is also an outstanding teacher, they have one child, a son who was born in July 2018.

Baldish is always looking for pioneering new concepts and initiatives that can have a positive impact on education. He has a real passion for establishing the highest ambitions for young people and breaking through perceived barriers and challenges.
