Grainne O’ Rourke
Year 7 Leader
My name is Grainne O’Rourke and I graduated from the University of Ulster with a BSc (hons) in Computing with Enterprise Studies. Coming from a family of teachers, I have always wanted to follow in my parents, grandparent, aunts and uncles footsteps and become a teacher. Whilst studying for my degree my a passion for changing and emerging technologies and the impact they could have on education soon developed. This drove me to complete my PGCE in ICT/Computer Science from Queen's University in Belfast.
From qualifying to arriving in Dubai for a maternity leave in October 2011 I have had numerous in class opportunities, from teaching Computer Science to becoming a Learning Mentor in a large comprehensive school, a head of year role and leading the moral education department.
Since coming to The UAE for an initial 3 month contract I haven’t looked back! I have had the privilege of teaching a wide range of international and local students and the opportunity to work in a number of outstanding schools across the UAE, providing me with a range of personal and professional opportunities including completing my NPQML and becoming a qualified Mental health First Aider.
I am committed and passionate about the holistic education of all students and will endeavour to ensure all students achieve their best both academically and personally.
