GEMS students are accepted by some of the world's most prestigious universities

In the last four years, GEMS has enjoyed some of the best university acceptance rates of any international school. Our students have been accepted into 1050 universities in 53 countries. We're proud to say that includes 66 of world's top 100 universities.

FirstPoint 2019 Higher Education Applications

A huge amount of work has been going on behind the scenes to ensure all students are ready to apply to their universities of choice this winter. UK applications have now closed, with almost 50% of our cohort opting to study in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Our top destinations include Bristol, King’s College London and Durham universities, with 10% of the year group applying to the University of Oxford. Students are beginning to receive their offers and we have acceptances so far from University of Manchester, Northumbria, Southampton and Bristol, as well as Glasgow and York.

Other countries have variable deadlines, and offers are still underway, but we are well on the way to seeing our Class of 2020 really achieve their dreams. The most popular courses are Medicine, Computer Science, Biomedical Science and Business Management.

Our second top destination is Canada, with students applying all over the country and securing places at top schools including Concordia. In the US, we have applied to UCLA and Harvard and will be submitting applications for other top universities this month.

Back in Europe, our most popular destination is the Netherlands, with offers already being considered from Amsterdam and Groningen. We have students who have applied to France, Spain and Italy and others who are submitting applications to Germany and Hungary this month.

2020 will surely be another year of success for FirstPoint as we expand our alumni network further across the globe.

These days, there's a lot more to a university education than obtaining a world class qualification alone. Here's how we prepare our students for university and the world of work:

  1. Development of employability skills: It's not just a degree employers look for. A GEMS student gains self-confidence, communication, initiative, team work and time management skills.
  2. Interest and experience in their future study courses: Have a look at how we prepare our Alumni for their university courses before they leave school.
  3. Improved career prospects: A higher education is a gateway to jobs in the future. Many organisations around the world employ GEMS Alumni. With tens of thousands of contacts all over the world, your child will find a connection wherever their career takes them.
  4. Development of personal and social skills: GEMS Core Values have been part of our DNA for over 55 years. With a GEMS education, your child will not just become a conscientious student, they'll also gain the confidence and independence to thrive at home, university and at work.

Whether we are lucky enough to teach your child for a few years or many more, the lessons they learn at GEMS will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
