An innovative programme combining education with 21st century employment skills
Under the KHDA Rahhal 10X programme, we are pioneering a new concept to integrate industry within education, and the first stage is to provide weekly internship opportunities for Year 12 students.
Nominated for the 'Innovation in Education' Award at the GESS Conference 2020
The first organisation to be involved and lead in developing the blueprint is Siemens, which coincides with the FirstPoint launch as a GEMS Centre of Excellence – Digital Industries.
Currently there are 14 students undertaking an internship with companies such as:
Siemens (energy efficiency using digital tools and software),
Mirai (digital/technology consultancy and education software),
MJU Engineering Consultancy (working on building projects and using software to design),
Miles building contracting (digital building designs),
Desert Moon Steel (finance and digital marketing)
Rubber World Industry (operations and customer service)

Students spend one day a week at their internship, and are required to maintain logs of their activity.
The programme has gained interest from KHDA National Workforce, and established local and global organisations have signed up since to provide opportunities which will prepare the students for the real-world beyond the traditional expectations.
