Samera Dhansey
Assistant Head Teacher
Having been part of the GEMS FirstPoint School family for a year, I am privileged to continue my journey with the school and its students.
After graduating from university with a BA Hons in Journalism and English, I joined the journalism industry as a staff writer on a newspaper. This led to many successes with my work being published in local, national, and international newspapers. It is my passion for reading and writing that led me to pursue a career as an English teacher. I believe it is the right of every child to have these valuable life skills. I joined the academic sector as a Teaching Assistant, which gave me invaluable experience and insight into the importance of education and was inspired to pursue a PGCE in English with Media and Drama.
I completed my PGCE in 2012 and worked at schools in London and Birmingham, UK. Throughout my years of teaching in the UK, I was lucky to gain experience as an Assistant Head of Year, Head of English, Director of Progress, culminating in my post as Assistant Head Teacher for the Quality of Education and Curriculum at a school in Birmingham. My main focus was on quality assuring the curriculum and ensuring students received a broad and balanced provision both within and outside of the classroom.
It is this experience I bring to FPS and enjoy working with all stakeholders to ensure the curriculum and holistic experiences of our students develop lifelong memories and skills.
