Jennifer Pope
EAL Teacher
I have been working at GEMS FirstPoint School since 2019 and have worked in the Inclusion EAL department for the past two years. Before this, I taught at GEMS Wellington Academy DSO, Safa Private School and GEMS Dubai American Academy. My teaching philosophy is to create a safe, nurturing classroom environment to allow students to be risk-takers and achieve to their full potential.
I have a Bachelor of Education from Brandon University, Canada, a Master of Science (Hons) specialising in Literacy and Reading K-6 from Walden University, USA and an International TEFL and TESOL certification. I started my teaching career in Canada but for the past 20 years I have taught Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 within Dubai.
My husband and I have four boys who all attend GEMS FirstPoint School. We all enjoy playing/watching ice-hockey and baseball. I am Vice President of the SandStorms Hockey Club and enjoy volunteering in the community and bringing the sport Canadians love to the Middle East! As a family we love to travel so any chance we get we are on a plane to discover new places and have an adventure!
