Steve Farish

Vice Principal

I was in Year 7 when I decided that I wanted to be a PE teacher, having been inspired by the PE teachers in my Secondary School. I am delighted to say that I achieved this dream in 2010 at a School in the North East of England. I have lived in the UAE for nine years now, where I have held positions as Head of PE, Head of Secondary and most recently, Head of Middle School at GEMS Wellington International School, Dubai. These experiences have prepared me well to help lead GEMS FirstPoint School as Vice Principal.

I completed my degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Teesside, where I achieved 1st Class Honours, before completing my teaching qualification at Durham University and I also hold a master’s degree with distinction in Educational Leadership and Management from Nottingham University. To further my educational leadership journey, I completed my National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and I am now excited to be leading our incredible school.

My educational philosophy is to ensure that every child is provided with the opportunity to flourish in their own right, is made to feel special, and loves to come to school each day. To achieve this, it is vital to build a community where the school works in partnership with parents to support the learning of every child. I believe that by embedding this philosophy at the school, the FPS community will truly experience a wonderful family school, that we are all proud to be part of.

Away from education I am a keen sportsman and also play the guitar and write music (I even released a music album for charity a few years ago). I have a wonderful wife and three amazing sons, who keep me busy whenever I am not at work. I am excited as we look towards a bright future at GEMS FirstPoint School.
