Laura Nulty

Assistant Head Teacher

I have been with GEMS Education since 2012 and have worked in 2 schools during that time – GEMS Wellington International School and GEMS FirstPoint School. This is my 5th year at FPS and I am delighted to have been appointed Assistant Headteacher for Secondary.

Following the achievement of my BA(Hons) degree in Sports, Health and Exercise from Durham University in 2003, I began a career in Sports Development in the UK; working for a number of National Governing Bodies alongside coaching County level netball squads. It was during this time where I realized that my true passion lay in inspiring future generations to have a lifelong love of physical activity, sport and also learning. Therefore, after 5 years in this field, I went back to University to gain my PGCE and qualified as a PE teacher from University of Birmingham in 2009. I am also currently studying for my National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership (NPQSL) through University College London (UCL).

My educational philosophy is based in students being able to enjoy school life, feel confident in their own abilities and be willing to step outside of their comfort zone in order to exceed their perceived potential. I’m looking forward to leading the Key Stage 3 team in this area, having a wealth of experience in leading year groups successfully through their GCSE and A Level years.
