GEMS FirstPoint School U12 Football
FPS hosted GEMS Winchester in the DASSA Plate final on Tuesday 23rd April. This is a first cup final in FPS history and was eagerly awaited due to postponement last week. FPS' squad had progressed into the final after a comfortable win against Hartland and went into the final as favourites. The team was dominant in the early stages with Alejandro (Y7) opening the scoring after a fluent attacking move.
GEMS Winchester pegged FPS back with a breakaway goal against the run the of play. FPS showed great character and didn't let this set-back affect them continuing with their attacking style causing GEMS Winchester constant problems. Goals from Erick (Y6) and Aydan (Y7) secured a 3-1 lead going into half-time. The second half brought more FPS pressure and the substitutions from the bench, demonstrating FPS' strength in depth, did not affect the attacking fluency. FPS went onto score three more goals from Basil (Y7), Aydan (Y7) and Erick (Y6), and ran away 6-1 winners. Congratulations to the whole squad and to Mr Gallagher who has coached the U12's to second place in the DASSA Development League and now winners of the plate final.
